Which Etsy shipping workflow fits my shop?

Start with your product and actual dispatch origin. Shipping apps, parcel carriers, print-on-demand and warehouse teams handle different jobs; the right combination depends on what you need made, stored and shipped.

· ShipEtsy

The essentials

  • For China dispatch, Etsy lists SF Express, Yanwen, YunExpress and 4PX as commonly used DDP carriers.
  • An Etsy-listed shipping app, a carrier and a production partner have different roles and permissions.
  • Etsy requires DDP for US-bound orders. Confirm a suitable duties-paid route and its full scope before accepting the shipping arrangement.

Match the service to the job

What “works with Etsy” actually tells you

Etsy explicitly lists selected shipping apps by origin and location. Its separate international-shipping table names commonly used DDP carriers. A provider’s integration instructions establish a technical connection, while a production-partner example describes a making role. None of these establishes a relationship with our company or makes every product eligible.

Which names are commonly used by Etsy sellers?

In its 28 May 2026 Seller Handbook, Etsy describes ShipStation as its most-used shipping app and positions it for experienced sellers using bulk automation. It presents Shippo as a simpler starting workflow, with Sendcloud, Packlink and Billbee serving different European needs. This is Etsy’s dated description of shipping tools, rather than a worldwide quality or satisfaction ranking of logistics companies.

Choose a China route from the real parcel

SF Express, Yanwen, YunExpress and 4PX are useful starting points for a China-origin route review. Their appearance in Etsy’s DDP carrier column does not establish full Etsy API access or acceptance of every product. Confirm the contracted service and the physical journey before dispatch.

  • China collection, warehouse preparation and export handover
  • International transport, import handling and the agreed DDP scope
  • Local delivery provider, tracking references and who handles an exception

For US-bound orders, put DDP in the plan

Etsy’s Shipping Policy, effective 9 July 2026, requires US-bound orders to use Delivered Duty Paid (DDP), so buyers do not face extra import duties, taxes or fees after purchase. Confirm the goods, importer arrangement and included charges before agreeing a route. Etsy may recognise rare exceptions where DDP is genuinely unavailable; these require explicit buyer confirmation through Etsy Messages and an accurate estimate of additional charges. Treat this as an exceptional policy process, not a routine DAP option.

Connect the order before automating the work

Ask which tool the seller already uses and where orders physically leave from. Confirm what the connection can read and update; some shipping-data steps may need manual work. ShipStation’s Etsy instructions, for example, warn that an Etsy cancellation is not automatically recognised in ShipStation. Agree the cancellation check before picking an order.

  • Map each order reference, SKU, variant and personalisation field
  • Agree address access, cancellation checks and who approves unclear orders
  • Keep label creation, warehouse release and carrier acceptance as separate events
  • Confirm tracking updates and who communicates with the buyer

Start with two things you already know

Tell us what the product is and whether it is made to order or held in stock. From there, we can discuss the supplier, sample, packing and dispatch steps that need attention. For a supported printed catalogue item, a POD workflow may be a straightforward fit; for custom materials, components or combined orders, a China sourcing and preparation review may be useful.

Questions sellers ask

Does Etsy’s carrier list mean you work with all of them?

No. These are research examples from Etsy’s public guidance. We confirm the available contracted route, carrier and service scope for your product before dispatch.

Can I use US or UK Etsy labels for stock dispatched from China?

Do not assume so. Label services have origin and account conditions. Your shop must state the actual dispatch location, and the route must match where the parcel really leaves from.

Is a China manufacturer automatically an Etsy production partner?

The work and your creative role matter. An eligible seller-designed item made with production assistance has different requirements from buying a generic finished item for resale. Review Etsy’s standards and disclose production assistance where required.
